The Cup Project – A Middle Eastern Football Dream

Since childhood, football has been a huge part of my life – playing, watching, wearing the jersey, and cheering from the stands. I’ve always loved our national team. Even if it’s not always the best, it knows how to move people. The excitement before a match, the blue-and-white shirts, the anthem – it’s a feeling of unity.

Still, I often felt envy watching the big international tournaments. Europe, America, even Africa – each region had its stage. The colors, the pride, the culture – it was beautiful. And we? Always on the sidelines. Not quite Europe, no longer Asia. Just stuck.

The Cup

Typography

The trophy and its logo were designed as a tribute to the spirit of the Middle East. The physical cup has an organic shape, inspired by olive trees, desert walking sticks, and sacred blue-gold tones found in regional architecture. Its ten arms represent the ten teams united in one tournament.

The logo combines three layers: the symbol (a flattened 3D silhouette of the trophy), the typography (the name and year), and the slogan. A flowing pattern beside the trophy echoes intertwined branches – symbolizing unity in motion.

The custom lettering connects Hebrew and Arabic, reflecting the cultural bond the tournament fosters. Its style draws from ancient stone inscriptions, where time and erosion blend letters into something new – just like this tournament.

The teams in the tournament

As part of the tournament, I reimagined ten national teams from the Middle East — designing logos, patterns, uniforms, and merchandise that reflect each country's unique values and identity.

The uniforms were developed in collaboration with suppliers, carefully selecting fabrics, cuts, and embroidery for a professional, real-world result. The collection also includes scarves, stickers, keychains, and more.

And now let's play

As a lifelong football fan, I wanted fans to experience the tournament inside one of the world’s most popular games — FIFA.

To make it happen, I learned how to work with modding software, researched how to access and edit the game’s system files, and found creative ways to break into the game's structure in order to integrate my own designs.

The final mod includes the tournament’s teams, logos, uniforms, scarves, fan elements, and trophy branding. I also added a custom soundtrack in Arabic and Hebrew by Middle Eastern coaches, along with three original game covers featuring players in the kits I designed.

The Exhibition Experience

The Exhibition Experience

To bring the project to life, I designed an immersive locker room installation — complete with team uniforms, scarves, shoes, and tournament merchandise. The space features a grass floor and ambient crowd sounds, capturing the moment just before players enter the field.

At the center stands the trophy, protected in a clear display case. Visitors can play a custom FIFA version featuring the tournament’s teams and explore exclusive shirts and merchandise from the event.
